Biography

I am a graduate of the Parsons School of Design, where I studied in New York, Paris, and Tuscany. As a student of both fine arts and illustration I gained a thorough understanding of color, form, and design. Prior to attending Parsons, I had various positions in design studios and corporate marketing departments. My roles included art director, senior designer, brand manager, and creative services manager. A strong sense of design aids me in creating strong compositions in my paintings. Upon graduating from Parsons I embarked on a Master of Arts in Painting from Montclair State University in New Jersey. I exhibited in two very sucessful shows during my studies and was awarded second place at the Montclair University bi-annual Westbeth exhibition. This show included works of both students and alumni. My senior thesis presented eight of my paintings along with the works of four of my talented peers. In my final year I was awarded first place in the "Liquitex Excellence in Arts" competition. This competition was open to graduate students from the United States, Mexico and Great Britain. It was exhibited in New York City at the American Council of the Arts, and the painting is held in the Binney and Smith corporate collection. Upon completing my fine art degree I continued on for a Masters in Corporate Communications at Fairleigh Dickinson Univeristy in New Jersey. My thesis on logo and brand identity was the core of my studies and well received.

I have been a member of the National Association of Women Artists (NAWA) since 2004. In 2019 I joined the NAWA South Carolina chapter where I serve on the board as Treasurer and Web Manager. Founded in 1898, NAWA is the oldest professional women's fine art organization in the United States. Below is a list of my education history, awards, and collections. See the Exhibitions section for a full listing of upcoming and previous showings.
